In these crazy times of lock down we have a lot to deal with. Trying to work from home, manage home schooling, manage a family and manage our own emotions.
We might find ourselves being triggered by the tiny things that normally wouldn’t bother us.
Listing “triggers” can be useful while our pre-frontal cortex (PFC) is calm, as when we’re already triggered (husband saying from the sofa, “do you want me to do anything?” with piles of washing everywhere, kids arguing and me trying to do a Zoom call! aah!) our PFC goes off line and our limbic system (fight or flight) kicks in. We literally can’t think straight.
Awareness of this is good. So is a bit of compassion for yourself. Allowing yourself to say “It’s ok to not be ok”.
Do you know what – it’s ok.
