I’ve being trying out a new habit to start my day in a positive way and it’s working.
Rather than doing my old habit of turning off the alarm, then looking at my phone’s messages, then the news ……then noticing my mood going down. I now practise this 90 second habit (which I stole from Satya Nadella the chief executive of Microsoft) to start my day in a positive way. It’s got science to back it up too!
- While still in bed, take a deep breath (12 seconds) – to kick start your parasympathetic nervous system which calms you down
2. Mentally name something you’re thankful for – wakes up parts of the brain connected to optimism and contentment.
3. Make one intention for your day – activates the visionary parts of the brain
4. Feet on the ground and just feel your feet – being mindful
Now start your day in a positive way!
